David Howes, MD Receives Outstanding Contribution in Education Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians

Dr. David Howes, Professor of Medicine (Section of Emergency Medicine) was selected as the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution in Education Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians. This award was presented to Dr. Howes at the 2012 ACEP Scientific Assembly in October.

This prestigious award recognizes Dr. Howes’ outstanding contributions to education in the field of Emergency Medicine over the past three decades. It is a career that has been dedicated to guiding the training of over 500 EM residents and hundreds of medical students beginning at the University of Illinois and continuing on at the University of Chicago since 1989. Dr. Howes has contributed greatly to the specialty of Emergency Medicine with numerous publications including a first author textbook, multiple abstracts, and numerous book chapters. He is recognized for his talent as a regional and national speaker. He has been a member of ACEP since 1981 and has served on numerous committees as both a Chair and member.

Dr. Howes has been the recipient of multiple national awards recognizing his contributions to the specialty, including the AAEM Residency Program Director of the Year, the SAEM Visionary Educator Award, and the ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award.
